
Ian spent six years researching this book, interviewing veterans in numerous Canadian cities as well as in England, France and the United States. An award winning journalist, Ian is the editorial writer at the Record in Kitchener, Ontario. Ian started writing Amazing Airmen after his newspaper published a story he wrote about his uncle, George Darling, a bomb-aimer on a Halifax bomber shot down by a German pilot.
This is Ian's second book. His first was a collection of humourous essays about fatherhood entitled, Go Ask Dad: Fathers Are Nice Guys.
Ian has also taught writing courses at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.
He lives in Waterloo with his wife, Jane Ann McLachlan, a college
instructor and writer. They have three children.
